On 9 July 2026, Hong Kong marked a historic milestone for pet lovers. The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) officially launched the Dog-in-Eateries Scheme, allowing dogs into approved food premises under strict regulatory conditions.
Previously, under Section 10B of the Food Business Regulation (Cap. 132X), dogs were strictly prohibited from food premises (except guide dogs). Under the new 2026 scheme, restaurateurs can apply for a special permit to allow dogs to dine alongside their owners in indoor and outdoor dining areas.
